Mobile shelving is a shelving system that is fitted with wheeled traction carriages. The shelving is mounted to the carriage and the carriages can be closely packed when access is not required, but can be readily moved to create an aisle to allow access to any carriage.
The carriages move on tracks positioned on the floor and can be moved manually or mechanically depending on the size and weight. The track can either sit on top of an existing floor or be integrated into raised access flooring allowing for a smooth transition between unit and surrounding floor levels.

By eliminating the need for a permanently open aisle between every unit, a smaller proportion of floor space can be allocated creating a high density storage area as opposed to conventional fixed shelving using the same footprint.
